Sylvia Moon of Wayne

Sylvia Moon, 87, of Wayne, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House in Huntington surrounded by her family. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. 2nd Timothy 4-7. She was born August 12, 1924 in Wayne Co., a daughter of the late George and Fannie Wheeler Pack. Her husband, James Moon, a son, Jimmy Moon, two sons-in-law, Grover Maynard and Bob Tucker, two sisters Hattie and Gracie and seven brothers Pharoh, Luther, Sam, Rennie, Lawrence, Fern and Keither also preceded her in death. Survivors include five daughters, Marie (Gilmer) Marcum, Fannie (Tom Ed) Maynard, Diana (Tommy) Watts, Joyce (James) Baisden, and Virginia Tucker; two sons, Frank (Freda) Moon and Roy (Nancy) Moon; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Mae McCoy and a sister-in-law, Martha Pack and a brother-in-law Hubert Webb. Sylvia was a member of the Echo United Baptist Church and was a devoted mother, grandmother and a devout servant of the Lord. She never passed up an opportunity to share the gospel. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Johnson Queen and Roger Maynard officiating. Burial followed at the Pres Friley Cemetery, Cove Gap. Friends called from 6 -9 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Special thanks go to the Hospice House staff, her home nurse Becky, caregiver Missy, her Doctor Dr. Brandon Webb, special friend Vida Bradshaw and to Tommy & Diana Watts for their care for Sylvia over the years.
