Audrey Roberts Burgess Booth of Louisa
Audrey Roberts Burgess Booth, 85, of Louisa, Ky. died peacefully at Three Rivers Medical Center on December 31, 2012. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family. Audrey was born on September 23, 1927 in Aflex, Ky. to the late George and Cornis Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Quinton Burgess, Louisa, Ky., daughter Leah Burgess Davis, and brother Bobbie F. Roberts. She was a membr of the First United Methodist Church in Louisa. Audrey was a graduate of Fort Gay High School, She was an accomplished trombonist having earned first chair in the West Virginia All State Band four consecutive years. She graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Adult and Continuing Education. She taught Adult Education in Wayne County, W.Va. Her teaching career was filled with students who loved and respected her, and whose lives were better for having learned from her. After retiring from teaching, she was fortunate enough to travel extensively to destinations around the world. Few are blessed with a life as filled with love and joy as Audrey. She truly loved having fun, and was never happier than when surrounded by her family and friends. Her joyful sense of humor and prolific laughter were well known by those close to her. Perhaps her greatest source of joy was caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom she was fiercely proud. The love of music that was such an important part of her life blossomed in the generations following her, and she took every opportunity to sing and play with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Charley Edwin Booth, one sister, Valeria Ryan, Louisa, Ky., brother Ron Roberts, Ft. Gay. W.Va., son Jeff Burgess (Kathy), Lexington, Ky., daughter Jane Wallen (David), Louisa, Ky., son-in-law Kerry Davis, Lexington, Ky., grandchildren Addie and Blair Frias (Manual), Michael Burgess and Lauren Child (Nick), Emily Martin (Chris) Seth Wallen and Joseph Wallen, as well as seven great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Friday 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Louisa, Ky. Interment followed at the Burgess Family Cemetery, Louisa. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 - 9:00 pm at Young Funeral Home Louisa, Ky.
