James Blankenship of Lavalette

James Blankenship, 76 of Lavalette, WV went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 29, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Wednesday at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Brother Amos Simmons. Burial will follow at Bartram Cemetery, Fort Gay, WV. He was born February 1, 1934 in Wayne County WV, a son of the late Hiram and Thelma Lockhart Blankenship. James was a retired carpenter and member of the Mills Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. His loving wife of 53 years, Wilma Lester Blankenship also preceded him in death along with a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Blankenship; a son-in-law, Bo Brooks; two sisters, Fredis Blankenship and Leota Adkins; two brothers, Sidney Haskel Blankenship and Cay Blankenship. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Blankenship and wife, Barbara of Kenova, WV; five daughters, Brenda Smith and husband, Don; Nancy Nutter and husband, Robert, all of Huntington, WV, Gloria Ferguson, Rita Tanis and husband, Tom, all of Lavalette, WV, and Sharon Brooks of Kenova, WV; four sisters, Lillian Lowe, Sylvia Luther and husband, Jim all of Kenova, WV; Irene Artrip and husband, Paul, Sue Dierdoff and husband, Don, all of Barboursville, WV; three brothers, Ellis Blankenship, Willis Blankenship, both of Barboursville, WV, Hiram Blankenship, Jr. and wife, Mary of Kenova, WV; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Brent Lester of Wayne, WV.
