Edward Louis Schmuker of Genoa

Edward Louis Schmuker, 82, of Genoa, WV, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Genoa, WV from injuries sustained in an ATV accident. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Rev. Wendell Tackett. Burial will follow at the Huff Cemetery on Joel’s Branch. He was born June 3, 1928 at Grand Rapids, MI, a son of the late Charles and Marie Scheidel Schmuker. He was a retired road master for CSX Railway and was the former owner of The Stove and Iron Shop in Logan, WV. Edward was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He served in WWII with the 101st Calvary and was honorably discharged from both enlistments with the rank of Sergeant. Ed was also a member of American Legion Post 177 of Barboursville, WV and a member of the Hopewell Methodist Church as well as the C & O Historical Society. He was a member of AARP, the Wayne County Farm Bureau, and AREMA. Two brothers, Erwin Schmuker and Robert Schmuker, and a sister, Mary Ellen Parrish, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, April Dawn Thompson Schmuker; a daughter, Kathy Barnhart and husband, John of Chillicothe, OH; three sons, Joe Schmuker and wife, Becky of Marion, OH, John Schmuker of Greenville, TX, and Robert Schmuker of Marion, OH; a sister, Bernice of Grand Rapids, MI; a sister-in-law, Jean Schmuker of Grand Rapids, MI; and seven grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives in West Virginia. Friends may call from noon until service time on Thursday at Morris Funeral Home.
