James Edward Asbury of Prichard

James Edward Asbury, 65, of Prichard, W.Va., formerly of Man, W.Va., passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home with Brother Mike Blankenship officiating. Jim was born April 14, 1946, in Lundale, W.Va., son of the late Charles Edward and Barbara Griffith Asbury. He was a U.S. Marine veteran having served his country during the Vietnam war. He was retired from AEP where he was a Safety Supervisor. Jim attended the Oakland Avenue Baptist Church, he was a Mason and a member of the American Legion Post 93 whose Honor Guard will perform military rites. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Joseph Charles Asbury. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years Lynda Williamson Asbury; two sons and daughters-in-law James Edward Asbury II (Debra) of Prichard and Matthew Eric Asbury (Jennifer) of Crum, W.Va.; two sisters Patricia Young (Charles) of Yulee, Florida and Charlotte Smith (Tom) of Barboursville, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren Brandy, Zackery, Jordan, Jacob, Elizabeth, Douglas, Jonathan, Caroline, Dylan and Victoria Asbury, all of whom called Jim “Boy”; and two great-grandchildren Connor and Kaylynn Booth.
