Curtis L. Blankenship of Huntington

Rev. Curtis L. Blankenship, 73, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 11:26 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Elder Darrell Damron with Paul Smith assisting. Burial will follow at Dock’s Creek Cemetery at Kenova, WV. He was born January 26, 1939 at Logan, WV, a son of the late Richard and Rachel Ramey Blankenship. Curtis was a retired coal miner for Youngstown Mining Corp. and was a member of the UMWA. He was also a retired minister and a U.S. Army Veteran. A son, Curtis Ray Blankenship (Sr.) and a granddaughter, Rachel May Adkins also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty Jewell Bryant Blankenship; three children, Evelyn May Adkins and husband, William of Prichard, WV, Terry Lee Blankenship and wife, Melissa of Ohio, and Bruce Allen Blankenship and wife, Michelle of Prichard, WV; four brothers, Kermit Blankenship of Ohio, Emmitt Blankenship of Kenova, WV, Cerben Blankenship of Logan, WV, and Thomas Blankenship of Nicholas, WV; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Morris Funeral Home.
