Donald Lee Smith of East Lynn
Donald Lee Smith, 71, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2012. He was born June 29, 1940 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Homer and Dora (Merritt) Smith. Three sisters, Shirley Mae Lester, Freida Faye Curry and infant Julie Smith, also preceded him in death.
He leaves behind 12 children, Linda Leffingwell and her husband Darrell of Huntington, W.Va., Roger Lee Smith and his wife Judy of Chicago, Ill., Kimberly Leap of Huntington, Sandy Smith and her husband Timmy of Milton, W.Va., Scott Smith and his wife Stephanie of East Lynn, Jamie Smith and his wife Deborah of Wayne, W.Va., Misty Bodenhammer and her husband Terry of Kenova, W.Va., Travis Jackson, Laura Gitchell, Bonnie Jackson, Kyle Jackson, and Jesse Jackson, all of Huntington; 19 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Jean Stamper of Ashland, Ky., and Judy Taylor and her husband Rick of Scottsboro, Ala.; four brothers, Homer Smith, Jr., and his wife Anthia, Bobby Smith, Jimmy Smith and his wife Linda, and John Smith and his wife Kesarin, all of East Lynn; his loving companion of 38 years, Violet Jackson; and close friend Virginia Smith of East Lynn.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Rev. Kesarin Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, East Lynn. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
