Michael Dale Toppins of Ranger, WV

Mr. Michael Dale Toppins, 57, of Ranger, W.Va., a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday March 15, 2011, at St Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Fred Ferguson and Rev. Bennie Dean officiating. Burial followed in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Mike was born April 6, 1953, at West Hamlin, W.Va., a son of the late Ray and Ruby Mavis Brumfield Toppins. He was a retired heave equipment operator with Patterson Excavating and Belva Coal Company, a member of the UMWA and a graduate of Harts High School. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Ronald Ray Toppins. He was Baptist by faith. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sandra Kay Williamson Toppins; one daughter, Cassandra Michelle Toppins of Ranger; a very special granddaughter, Mikayla Brianne Toppins, of Ranger, who was his world and the light of his eye. Mike also leaves behind two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Jerry Richards of Harts, W.Va., and Linda and Jack Capehart of Barboursville, W.Va.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jean and Benny Artis of Wayne, W.Va., Judy Strow of Crown City, Ohio, and Denzil Williamson of Edgemoor, S.C.; many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly. Nephews served as pallbearers.
