Opal Bowen Staley of Wayne

Opal Bowen Staley, 87, of Wayne, WV, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 26, 2012 at her residence following a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Pastors Michael Dillon, Fred Ferguson and Larry Carico officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. She was born August 17, 1924 at Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph Martin and Nannie Adkins Bowen. She was a retired LPN and was a member of the former Lick Creek United Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was the father of her children, Raymond Edward Staley, and sister Marie Ferguson-Fraley and infant sister Gail Bowen. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah (Paul) Baker of Wayne, WV; a son, David (Phyllis) Staley of Hinton, WV; three grandchildren, Michele (Adrian) Rollyson, Leigh Ann (Brad) Wyrick, and Paul Franklin Baker; five great-grandchildren, David “D.J.” Staley, Madison Michele Rollyson, Makaylyn Baker, Braydon Baker, and Dylan Wyrick; two sisters, Betty Jo Litton of Lebanon, PA and Margery “Bobbie” (Glenn) Coffman of Jacksonville, FL, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank caregiver Amy Hogsett and her family and Hospice of Huntington, especially nurse Sandy Smith.
