Rachel Stevens of Louisa

Rachel Stevens, 79, of Louisa, Ky., died March 30, 2012, following a short illness in the J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center, Louisa. She was born June 13, 1932, in Naugatuck, W.Va., a daughter of Sheridan and Eliza Hensley Bailey. She was a housewife a member of the United Baptist faith. Proceeding her in death is her husband, Andrew Stevens, who died in 1993. Survivors include her five daughters, Mary Mulkey of Grundy, Va., Fannie Fansler of Chino Valley, Ariz., Lula Rakow of Fort Gay, Verta Stevens of Grundy, Effie Barker of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; three sons, Hon Stevens of Kuttawa, Ky., William Stevens of Louisa, Benjamin Stevens of Carlin, Nevada; one sister, Nancy Reed of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Theo Bailey of Columbus and Ben Bailey of Lovely, Ky.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Baptist Church in Kermit with the Rev. Ellis Maynard officiating. Burial was in Bailey Cemetery in Lovely. Visitation was 4-9 p.m. Monday in Young Funeral Home, Louisa.
