Roy Benjamin McKinney of Kenova

Roy Benjamin McKinney, 71 of Kenova, WV died Wednesday April 24, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born September 30, 1941 in Wayne County, a son of the late Roy and Edra Ferguson McKinney. Roy had worked as a Quality Control Tech for Standard Lefarge. He also worked for C-K Florist. He was proud of the two quartets he sang in the Rejoicers and the Heaven Heirs and then later singing with his sisters. He was also thankful to have been a member of the Naval Reserve. In addition to his parents Roy was preceded in death by one son, Roy B. (Tracy) McKinney, III. He is survived by his beloved wife, Frankie C. Maurer McKinney; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky D. and Lynn McKinney of Kenova and Shawn Roy and Sherri McKinney of South Point, OH; two granddaughters, Shannon Rae McKinney and Breanna Shea McKinney; one great granddaughter, Nevaeh McKenzy Hayes; two brothers, Charlie and Norman McKinney and three sisters, Patty Nelson, JoAnn Preston and Maxine Jeffrey. The family would like to express a special thank you to Roy’s sister JoAnn for the loving care and devotion she has provided throughout his long illness. The family will receive friends from 11 to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Byard officiating. Burial will follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702.
