Arline Burton Skaggs of Louisa
Arline Burton Skaggs, 93, of Louisa, Kentucky passed away May 2, 2012 at the J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa. Arline was born July 24, 1918 at Ellen, Kentucky, the third child of the late Samuel Worthington Burton and Hattie Jane Berry Burton. Arline was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard F. Skaggs, brother Heyward Burns Burton and her sister, Louise Burton Kingsmore. Arline, a longtime educator served primarily as a mathematics teacher at Blaine High School and later as principal of Blaine Elementary School. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and was an avid Wildcat basketball fan. She was a member of the Methodist Church. In December 2011, Arline was presented her 60-year membership pin by the Blaine Chapter No. 202, Order of the Eastern Star. Formerly of Martha, Kentucky, until recently Arline had resided with her great-nephew Wes (Audra) Kingsmore of Louisa. Arline is also survived by her nephew, Sam (Phyllis) Kingsmore, Louisa, nieces; Karen (Morris) Kennedy, Lexington, and Janet (Greg) Beckelheimer, Louisa. “Aunt Bob” is also survived by great-nephews; Chris (Kathy) Kearns, Louisa, Will (Sarah) Kennedy, Katy, Texas, great nieces; Leslie (Bruce) Hereford, Ashland, Kerry (Shane) Hollingsworth, Fort Gay, West Virginia, Lauren Kennedy, Lexington, and Sarah Beckelheimer, Louisa. Also surviving are great-great nephews and nieces; Dustin, Ryan, Lakyn, Derrick, Alyssa, Sloane, Clay, Kaitlin, Landon and Aden.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 5, 2012 at Young Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young Funeral Home, Louisa.
Visitation is 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Young Funeral Home..
