Cullie Williamson of Kenova
Cullie Williamson, 85, of Kenova, WV, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. C.J. Adkins. Burial will follow at Dock’s Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV. He was born July 16, 1925 in Crum, WV, a son of the late Jim and Lucinda Salmons Williamson. Cullie was a retired coal miner for Island Creek Coal and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. From his birth, surviving the Great Depression, drafted out of high school to Omaha Beach in 1944, and raising 5 children, he was truly a member of this country’s “Greatest Generation”. He was also a member of the Silver Creek United Baptist Church and for the last few years had attended the Westmoreland Baptist Church. He was a 50 year member and a Past Master of the Jewell Lodge #140 of Crum, WV which will conduct graveside rites. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Minerva Ratcliff Williamson, his second wife, Elma Perdue Hicks Williamson; a sister, Reba Ramey; four brothers, Cecil, Clifton, Roy, and Walter Williamson. Survivors include three daughters, Geneva George and husband, Joe of Huntington, WV, Deborah May and husband, John of Kenova, WV, Sherri Brewer and husband, Steve of Crum, WV; two sons, Larry D. Williamson and wife, Jan of Huntington, WV, Roger Williamson and wife, Kelli of Cartersville, GA; a sister, Estelle Crum of Crum, WV; a brother, James Williamson and wife, Mary of Kenova, WV; two step-sons, Melvin Hicks and wife, Kay of Huntington, WV, Bob Hicks of Shady Springs, WV; ten grandchildren, Cullie D. Williamson, Joedy and Tim George, Brad and Jason May, Ashley and Alex Williamson, Misty Villarreal, Austin and Cullen Brewer; three great-grandchildren, Macie, Marissa and Gavin. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
