Shelley Kay Wellman Arthur of Shoals
Shelley Kay Wellman Arthur, 42 of Shoals, WV, loving wife, sister, aunt, daughter and friend passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 following a hard fought courageous battle with cancer. She was proceeded in death by her father Larry Gene Wellman of Kenova, her brother Stephen Bret Wellman of Kenova, her niece Maggie Elizabeth Rose Wellman of Kenova, and two sets of grandparents, William (Ruby) Taylor, Elzie (Bertha) Wellman, both of Kenova. Shelley was a 1986 graduate of Buffalo High School of Wayne County. She was employed with House Hassan Hardware of Prichard, WV for 12 years with her second family who loved and supported her through this entire journey. Shelley was a member of the Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Shelley has always been greatly involved in her nieces and nephews lives and watching them play sports… to them she is fondly known as “Shels”. She is survived by her wonderful devoted husband, Frank L. Arthur III of Shoals, her loving mother Wanda Gayle Wellman of Kenova, one brother Brian D. (Renee) Wellman of Kenova, two sisters, Tammy Wellman Ward of Lavalette, Kelley (Greg) Matney of South Point, Ohio, and one sister in law, Ronda Wellman of Kenova. Her beloved nieces and nephews: Michael (Carrie) Thacker II of Huntington, Rebekah (John) Frazier of Kenova, Zach Wellman, Elijah Wellman and Sophie Wellman of Kenova, Jacob and Jonah Wellman of Kenova and Savanah and Tait Matney of South Point, Ohio. She is also survived by her dedicated mother in law and friend, Ada Mayo Olah who cared for Shelley with so much love and compassion and 5 great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brian Wellman, Michael Thacker, Zach Wellman, Elijah Wellman, Jacob Wellman and Jonah Wellman. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tait Matney. Visitation will be Thursday evening September 8, 2011 at the Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, September 9, 2011 at the church with Pastors Tim Jayne and Greg Matney officiating. Burial to follow in Dock’s Creek Cemetery.
