Clifford R. Ellis formerly of Prichard

Clifford R. Ellis, passed away on Friday, September 2, at home surrounded by his family. Clifford was born on August 7, 1936, in Prichard, W.Va., the son of the late Fred and Oriole (Pickens) Ellis. Clifford attended the Church of God Worship Center. He was a foreman for Brown Company/James River, retiring after 46 years of service. Clifford enjoyed repairing fishing rods and he loved singing gospel music. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Faye, and Nancy; and a brother, Frank. Clifford is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia (Cyrus) Ellis, whom he married October 29, 1954; their four children, Ray (Laura) Ellis; Brenda (Rick) Garrison; Donna Ellis; and Pam (Gaylord) Stockwell; three grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Ellis, Michelle (Jeff) Haeger, and Jackie Garrison; two great grandchildren, Mia VandenBerg, and Christopher Ellis, Jr.; three siblings: Hannah (Charles) Massie; Joe (Edith) Ellis and Donna (George) Kelly; several nieces and nephews and children of the heart: Kim and Eddo Clark, and Todd and Brinda Grimm. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Church of God Worship Center, with Pastor Lane Davis officiating. Interment was in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park-North.
