Anthony Lee Marshall "Tony" of Wayne

Anthony Lee Marshall “Tony”, 38 of Wayne, WV, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 with Roger Perry officiating at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, WV. Tony was born October 25, 1972 in Orville, OH, son of Douglas and Catherine Marshall of Wayne. As September 11 marks a historical moment in our nation’s history, it also represents to our family the day that the third tower fell. Tony was a man of large stature and physical strength. Those who knew him knows that goes without saying. For those who never had the pleasure of knowing him, the strength of his heart surpassed that of his exterior appearance by leaps and bounds. Tony truly had a love for life as well as those involved in his own. He was a man that as the old saying goes “would give you the shirt off his back.” He was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and a true friend and was a devoted Christian and member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church who truly loved Jesus Christ above all others. His last occupational description was that of a industrial machinery mechanic, but that only describes a small fraction of his talents which include a carpenter, cabinet maker, small engine repair mechanic and was very handy around a vehicle. If it could be built he could build it. If it were to be broken, he could fix it. Many did not know his hidden artistic ability when it came to drawing. Tony was best known for his love of lawn care. It was seldom seen for his pickup truck to pass by and not to harness a riding mower in the bed of it. He was the caretaker of Mt. Vernon Cemetery for the last two decades and took extreme pride in it’s overall beauty. He cared for multiple home landscapes as well. This was his true passion. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Marshall; grandmother, Jean Carpenter; and niece Alaina Grace Marshall. Tony is survived by his wife, Carrie Michelle Marshall; one sister, Michelle Christian and husband Joshua of Wayne, WV; two brothers, Richard “Scott” Marshall and wife Shonda of Wayne, WV, and Douglas “Punkin” Marshall and wife Melissa of Wayne, WV; a special niece, Chelsea Marshall; a close brother-in-law, Jody Watts and wife Betsy; his “second parents,” Mike and Teresa Watts; nieces, Kaylee Christian, Kara and Ashley Marshall, Samantha Dean, and Kloey Watts; nephews, Joshua Christian, Colby Marshall, Carl Dean, Korey Watts, and Kaden Watts; one special niece whom he loved as a daughter, Nevaeh Dean; and a host of additional family and friends. Friends may call from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Wayne, WV. For those who knew him, loved him dearly, and those who didn’t, would have. His presence here on earth will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain with us forever. We can take comfort during our time of grief in knowing that he rests comfortably in the arms of the Lord without pain or suffering. We will forever love him. This was our “Tony”
