Irene S. Pelfrey

Irene S. Pelfrey, 90, of Main Street, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Windsor Care Center. She was born in Powell’s Mountain, West Virginia on April 5, 1922. She was a charter member of over 70 years at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Kenova, West Virginia, a homemaker and farmer and the widow of both Lyndsay Byron Staley, Jr. and Homer Pelfrey. She is survived by two sons, Gary Allen (Brenda) Staley of Kenova, W. VA and Kenneth Lee (Paula) Staley of Sharpsburg, KY; one daughter, Janet (Wendell) Cassity of Hilliard, FL; two sisters, Earlene Kissmore of Lodi, Ohio and Jessie Facemore of Summersville, W. VA; seven grandchildren, Gary Lee (Sherry) Cassity, Cindy (Michael) Steighner, Pamela Shrewsbury, Mark Staley, Leigh Ann French, Maggie (Damon) Smith, and Kenneth H. (Crystal) Staley; six great grandchildren, Brandon Cassity, Matthew Cassity, Quentin Steighner, Allen Shrewsbury, Addyson K. Smith and Kenleigh R. French; and one great great granddaughter, Lariana Cassity. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Aurora Cassity. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Sterling with Rev.Lloyd Latimer and Junior Ockerman officiating and burial following in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. til 11 a.m. Friday.
