Ruth Maxine Crockett

of Griffin, Georgia formerly of Wayne County

MRS. RUTH MAXINE CROCKETT, 78, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 20, 2010. She was born on November 25, 1931 in Wayne County to the late Davis and Georgia Cyrus Copley. Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Grady Copley, Charles Copley, Frank Copley, and Infant John Thomas Copley. Ruth was united in marriage to Robert “Bobby” Crockett of East Lynn on June 18, 1948. To this union was born two daughters: Linda Starkey and husband Roger and Georgia Phyllis Boettcher and husband Abraham; five grandchildren, Obie Adkins II and wife Lisa, Roger Starkey II and wife Claire, Todd Adkins and wife Crystal, Eleasha Ruth Adkins, and Robert Starkey and wife Kim. Great grandchildren include Amanda Mays, Caleb Mays, Kaleigh Humphries, Ryan Hunter Starkey, Andrew Cole Starkey, Devon Paul Starkey, Gage Colton Starkey, Jessica Taylor Starkey, Ashley Adkins, Emily Adkins, Jarod Adkins, and Erica Adkins in addition to two great- great grandchildren, Kiera and Kaden. Also surviving is one brother, Reuben Copley and wife Violet; three sisters, Lucille Wilson of Genoa, Elizabeth Watts and husband Russell of Echo, and Opal Fleming of Perry, Georgia; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Lester Austin. Ruth was a member of the Echo Baptist Church in Wayne and Orchard Hill Baptist Church in Georgia. She was also a member of the American Association of Nursing. Mrs. Crockett worked many years as a nurse in both West Virginia and Georgia until she was 72 years old. She was the most loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She dearly loved her Lord and all her family.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, with Pastors Roger Maynard and Roger Perry officiating. Burial followed in the Crockett Cemetery on Wilson Creek. Friends may called after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
