James Marshall Day of Lavalette

James Marshall “Jim” Day, 82, of Lavalette, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Pastor Bill Blankenship and Pastor David Cartwright officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Wayne with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova. He was born April 2, 1930 in Wayne West Virginia, the son of the late Manford Henson and Zera Ferguson Day. He was a retired machinist for the C & O Railway Shops in Huntington, and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. A son in law, Terry Aldridge also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hope Luceille Mullens Day; 2 daughters Marsha J. Day Aldridge of Wayne, WV; and Kathy Hope Day Goodall of Forest, VA; A son, James Kent (Cynthia) Day of Lavalette, WV; 2 sisters Vena Day Sullivan of Barboursville, WV and Eula Day Adkins of Ona, WV; seven grandchildren, Stacy (Charley) Adkins, James (Stephanie) Henson Day, Crystal Hope (Michael) Kendrick, Jocelyn Kate Goodall, Patrick G. Goodall, Bradley S. Goodall and Cameron P. Goodall. Six great grandchildren, Aeriel, Lakyn and Zane Adkins, Penelope Rose and Amelia Grace Day, and Tristan Michael Kendrick. Granddad has completed his negotiations for his cabin at the lake in Heaven, Fish ON, Granddad, Fish ON! Friends called after 1 pm Tuesday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne.
