Karl "Jim" Lawson of Wayne

Karl “Jim” Lawson 78, of Wayne, WV, went to be with the Lord, Monday, November 29, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Willy Wiley Cemetery in Cove Gap with the American Legion Post 93 conducting military graveside rites. He was born August 23, 1932 in Aflax, KY, a son of the late James and Alice O’Quinn Lawson. “Jim” was a retired Grinder/Polisher for SIFCO in Cleveland, OH served in the U.S.M.C. during the Korean War and was one of the few survivors of the “Chosin Reservoir Conflict.” He was also a member of the Crockett-Booten United Methodist Church, the Marine Corps League and the U.S. Veterans Center. His wife, Maxine Lawson also preceded him in death, along with a sister, Donna Doemer, and a brother, Harold Lawson. Survivors include three daughters, Janice Zimmerman and husband, Harry of Huntington, WV, Phyllis Staley and husband, David of Hinton, WV, Lynnette Lawson at home; a son, Carl Lawson and wife, Joann of Sutton, WV; grandchildren, Tina and Tim Burgess, Angela and Jeff Withrow, Michele and Adrian Rollyson, Jason and Stacy Lawson, Melissa and Brad Hamrick, Joshua Lawson; great-grandchildren, Nathan, David “D.J.”, Nikki, Michael, Samantha, Nathanael, Dane, Madison, Paydon, Emma and Ellie. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV.
